Lakshmipur Journalist Forum, Dhaka gets new body

The Lakshmipur Journalist Forum in Dhaka has formed a new committee consisting of 23 members. 

The new leadership was elected by direct vote of the members at the annual general meeting held at the Royal Resort in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, on Friday (March 8). 

Zakir Hossain Liton, Senior Reporter of Daily Kalbela, was elected as the President, and Arifur Rahman, Senior Reporter of Daily Prothom Alo, was elected as the General Secretary.

The Chief Election Commissioner was senior journalist Golam Mohiuddin Khan, and the Election Commissioners were Khurshid Alam, General Secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), senior journalists ATM Isahak and Harunur Rashid of Prothom Alo.

According to a press release issued by the organisation,  a family reunion program for journalists from Lakshmipur district working in the capital was organized. During this event, journalist leader Khurshid Alam, a distinguished son of Lakshmipur, was honored.

According to the press release, the new committee includes SM Morshed as Senior Vice-President (Oporadh Bichitra); Vice-Presidents Kazi Habib (Spashtobadi) and Ali Imam Sumon (Amader Somoy); Joint General Secretaries Salahuddin Chowdhury (Bangladesh Khabar) and Haque Faruk Ahmed (Jugantor); Zia Chowdhury (TBS) as Organizational Secretary; Belal Hossain (Ekushey TV) as Assistant Organizational Secretary; Main Uddin Arif (Desh TV) as Treasurer; Junayed Shishir (Kalbela) as Office Secretary; Niloy Mamun (Ittefaq) as Publicity Secretary; Aleya Begum Alo (Kochipata) as Publication Secretary; Jasim Uddin Badal (Samakal) as Training and Research Secretary; Jahangir Alam (Bangla Vision) as Sports and Cultural Secretary. 

Additionally, Riad Hossain (TBS), Ahammad Foyez (New Age), Kausar Mahmud (Jugantor), Tarek Chowdhury (71 Bangla), Jahidul Islam Rakib (Barta24), Sultan Mahmud Arif (Channel 24), and Atiq Hasan Shubh (Bangla Tribune) have been elected as executive members of the newly formed body.
