Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel made new Education Minister

Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel has been appointed as new Education Minister of Bangladesh. 

On Thursday night, the responsibilities of the new ministers were distributed by the Cabinet Division and a notification was issued. According to the notification, the previous Minister of Education, Dipu Moni, is now responsible for the Ministry of Social Welfare. 

Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel clinched landslide victory in the Chattogram-9 seat for the second consecutive term in recently concluded elections. He secured 1,30,993 votes while the nearest contender Jatiyo Party candidate Sanjid Rashid Chowdhury got 1,982 votes.

Chowdhury was born in Chattogram, Bangladesh on 26 July 1983. His father, ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, was a Bangladesh Awami League politician who served as the mayor of Chattogram, the second-largest city in Bangladesh. Mohibul Chowdhoury’s entry and patronage in politics is connected to his father’s career.

He graduated from London School of Economics with a law and anthropology degree and was called as a barrister of Lincoln’s Inn following post graduation from the University of Law.
