With the slogan “Standing by Humanity, Bearing the Responsibility of Morality,”
Jagannath University English Department Alumni Association has distributed winter clothes among the employees of the university and distressed people on Saturday night.
Blankets were distributed among the cold-affected people in front of the main gate of the university.
ASP Jyotirmoy Saha Opu, member secretary of JnU English Department Alumni Preparatory Committee inaugurated the program while current and former students of the department were present on the occasion.
Jyotirmoy Saha Apu, member secretary of the English Department Alumni Association Preparatory Committee, said, “For the impoverished and distressed, winter means hardship and suffering. Just like other years, this time too, former and current students of the English Department stand by the helpless in the cold. We hope that tDepartment Alumni Association Preparatory Committee, said,
“Due to the lack of winter clothing, vulnerable and homeless people endure many hardships during the nights. That’s why we have tried to provide warmth in the cold by distributing winter clothing among them. This event is our service to them.”, he added.
Among others, former and current students of English Department of the university were present at the program.
