GSCS International Limited is playing a leading role in organic production in the textile and garment industry supply chain in Bangladesh. As the only company in the country, it has certification, auditing, and capacity-building activities in 35 countries worldwide, including Bangladesh, following other international standards.
Speakers said this in a conference titled ‘Sustainability in the Textile Industry: The Way-Forward: GOTS Perspective jointly organized by GSCS International Limited and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) on Sunday.
Speakers at the conference discussed various aspects, including sustainability in the fashion and garment industry, which is currently a widely discussed topic globally. Dr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, was present as the chief guest at the event.
During the conference, Abdul Mottaleb, Managing Director of GSCS International Ltd., said that their company is the only Bangladeshi company operating in 35 countries worldwide, alongside GOTS certification, auditing, capacity building, primarily focusing on organic production, recycling traceability, social and environmental sustainability, governance, chemical management, ISO certification, and more.
Dr. Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, stated that the university’s textile department consistently maintains a progressive approach, fostering skilled manpower and playing a leading role in advancing sustainability. Additionally, a new department called Textile Chair is being introduced alongside four existing departments in the textile department.
He further emphasized that collaboration between AUST and GSCS is particularly gratifying because they can work together in the long run to integrate sustainability into the new generation through the textile movement. In this regard, GSCS can provide long-term technical assistance in sustainable fiber.
The conference was moderated Imadadul Haq, Associate Professor and Head of the Textile Engineering Department at the university.
