JnU English Department Hosts Vibrant Cultural Evening

Teachers and Students of JnU English Department are seen with Vice-chancellor of the university.

Jagannath University English Department hosted a Cultural Evening at the university’s arts faculty premises on Thursday evening, fostering cultural exchange and nurturing bonds between former and current students of the department. Jagannath University Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Sadeka Halim addressed the event as the chief guest. 

Expressing her enthusiasm, Professor Dr. Sadeka Halim said, “I always want to attend programs hosted by students, even if they are tiny, as these gatherings offer a chance to understand how my students have been and what their situations are.”

Professor Dr. Momin Uddin, Chairman of JnU English Department, said that the cultural evening and BBQ program have become a signature event for the department over the last half decade. Hundreds of students partake in this annual celebration each year.

Jyotirmoy Saha Opu, a former student of the department and currently serving as ADC of Uttara Zone, reflected on the unique program, stating,”This signature event brings back countless memories we share with the department. It serves as an annual reunion, uniting former students with the current ones.”

Among others, JnU Arts Faculty Dean Hosne Ara Jolly, Proctor Md Mostofa Kamal, English Department Professor Dr. Md Abu Zafor, Associate Professor Abdus Salam, and Abdur Rouf were attend the program.

The cultural program featured captivating performances by English departmental artists and the music brand ‘Travelers,’ leaving a lasting impression on students and alumni from various batches.

Sahinur Rahman, organiser of the program,  said that the event aims at enhancing communication among students from different batches. It fosters strong relationships.
