Rain likely over parts of country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Monday (16 June) predicted light to moderate and moderately heavy to heavy rainfall or thundershowers with temporary gusty wind and moderately heavy to heavy falls at different places over the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today. 

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Dhaka, Rajshahi and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Khulna and Barisal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” said the weather bulletin issued this morning.

Also, the bulletin predicted that the ongoing mild heat wave which is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna and Chapainawabganj may continue.

 Day temperature may fall slightly over northern part and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere in the country. Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged in the country. Due to excessive moisture content the discomfort may persists, it added.

 Country’s maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 38.0 degrees Celsius at Ishurdi in Pabna. While, today’s minimum temperature 23.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Rajarhat in Kurigram.

 Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing 6 am today was recorded 130 mm at Rajarhat in Kurigram.

The sun sets at 6:48 pm today and rises at 5:11 am tomorrow in the capital.
