In the 13th National Parliamentary Elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate from the Lakshmipur-4 constituency (Ramgati-Kamalnagar), A.B.M. Ashraf Uddin Nizan, created a new record in the district by securing the highest margin of victory.
According to unofficial results, Nizan, running under the “Sheaf of Paddy” symbol, won by a massive margin of approximately 45,000 votes against his nearest rival. He secured a total of 114,026 votes, while his closest contender, A.R. Hafiz Ullah of Jamaat-e-Islami, received 70,765 votes.
This victory margin is the highest among all four constituencies in Lakshmipur district. Notably, BNP candidates swept all four parliamentary seats in the district. In Lakshmipur-1 (Ramganj), BNP’s Shahadat Hossain Selim won with 85,457 votes. In Lakshmipur-2 (Raipur), Abul Khayer Bhuiyan secured 145,913 votes. In Lakshmipur-3 (Sadar), central BNP leader Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie won with 133,765 votes.
Following his victory, Nizan expressed his gratitude to the voters. In a brief statement, he said, “My dear people of Kamalnagar and Ramgati, I am grateful for your immense love and trust. This victory is truly your victory.”
He reiterated his commitment to the development of his constituency, pledging, “I promise to exert my utmost effort to construct permanent embankments to protect the area from river erosion, develop road infrastructure, and create employment opportunities for the youth.”
Concluding his message of unity, Nizan said, “Including those who voted for me and those who did not, we will build a developed and peaceful Kamalnagar-Ramgati together. My love to everyone.”
