Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University (JnU) Professor Dr. Sadeka Halim has been made a part-time member of the University Grants Commission.
UGC issued a notification in this regard on November 4, said a press release. Professor Dr. Sadeka Halim will hold this post for the next two years.
Earlier on Thursday, Prof Sadeka Halim of the sociology department at Dhaka University was appointed as the new vice-chancellor of Jagannath University. She is the first female VC of the university.
Prof Sadeka was the first elected female dean of the social sciences faculty of DU and first female information commissioner at the Information Commission Bangladesh.
In 2000, she received her PhD from McGill University in Canada.
