Dipu Moni made new Social Welfare Minister

Education Minister Dipu Moni has been appointed as new Minister of the Ministry of Social Welfare of People’s Republic Bangladesh. 

A new cabinet, including Dipu Moni was sworn in on Thursday, with ministries distributed to its members. Among the 37 members this time, there are several changes in the roles of ministers and state ministers. Prior to that a notification was issued in this regard.

Before her new role, Dipu Moni served the Minister of Education of Bangladesh since January 2019 to January 2023. She is a Member of Parliament representing the Chandpur-3 constituency. She was Foreign Minister of Bangladesh from 2009 to 2013.

She holds an MBBS from Dhaka Medical College and Hospital,an LLB from Bangladesh National University, a Masters of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, and a Masters of Laws fromthe University of London. She is a lawyer of Bangladesh Supreme Court. She also completed a course on Negotiations and Conflict Resolutions from Harvard University.
